Taronga Zoo, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
From 1884 there was a zoo at Billy Goat Swamp in Moore Park. In 1908 the zoo secretary, Albert Sherbourne Le Souef, after a visit to Europe and seeing how the Hamburg zoo operated, came back and redeveloped the zoo where it is now in Mosman, after it was realised that the Billy goat Swamp site was too small. Initially the government of the day gave 43 acres (17 ha), with an additional 9 acres (3.6 ha) were added in 1916.
The Taronga Zoo is home to over 2,600 animals of 340 species. It is divided into eight distinct – zoogeographic – exhibits, each focussing on a different region of the world. Only a tiny selection of the animals at the zoo are shown here. I will be adding more as pics become available.
Taronga is an Aboriginal word meaning beautiful view

The white-lipped tree frog can reach a length of over 13 cm (5.1 in). Females are larger than males, and the males usually reach only 10 cm (3.9 in). Its upper surface is usually bright green, although the colour changes depending on the temperature and background, and can be brown. The under surface is off-white.
The lower lip has a distinctive white stripe which continues to the shoulder. The white stripes on the trailing edges of the lower leg may turn pink in the breeding male. The white-lipped tree frog has large toe pads, which help it climb. The toes are completely webbed, and the hands are partially webbed. It eats mainly insects.
The white-lipped tree frog is found in Australia along the coastal areas of Cape York Peninsula and the wet tropics of north-eastern Queensland, and also in New Guinea, eastern Indonesia, and some Pacific islands.
